In this assignment, we had to think of ideas to help the world with one of the problems and come up with a solution for it. Some groups had a problem of natural disasters, structural issues, world hunger, etc. The problem that we picked out was hair ties for women's hair. Our first step was to research how much damage hair ties can do to your hair, and how different hair ties react to different hair types. There was a problem with this because women had a lot of hair loss, the hair tie would not stay in the hair which would cause the hair to get into the face. So we came up with three experiments to test for each of the hair ties. The first one was running the mile with different hair ties and different hairstyles, and our results didn't turn out as we wanted it to, but the hair ties stayed in. The second experiment was how black hair ties reacted in hot and cold water temperatures. It turned out that the hair ties that is in the hot water stretch more than the one that was in the cold water but they both stretched. The rubber band did not stick well so we made our own hair tie using a silicon.
Reflection: I personally thought the project went great! We all helped each other and contributed as a whole. The thing that I found out about my group, was that they had a hard time with the group presentation. Unfortunately I wasn't there for the presentation, so they weren't prepared to present to the class. Other than presenting, the project went amazing!
I worked on this project with Brittany Fung, Vivian Leida, Jillian Seymour, and Sadie Ikeda
